Fuel Cell Solutions

What does Protonas do?

Protonas is dedicated to bringing affordable fuel cell products to new markets. We believe we are at the beginning of a new way of generating, distributing, and using hydrogen as a fuel for a cleaner future. As part of that mission we have brought together an experienced team to develop our technology and prepare it for market entry into North American and then worldwide.
Peter David DeVries
Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Board
Mr. DeVries has been in the fuel cell industry since 1996, helping guide the development of the world’s first commercially successful air-cooled fuel cells, sold by ReliOn in the United States. He has held executive roles in his own startup (Genesis Fueltech) as well as with fuel cell companies in China, California, and Singapore prior to founding Protonas. As a named inventor on well over 20 patents, Mr. DeVries has a deep technical understanding of fuel cells and the electronics needed to support them in practical applications.
Dr. Arvind Parthasarathy
Technical Advisor and Co-Founder
Dr. Parthasarathy’s research work in fuel cell electrochemistry was carried out at the Center for Electrochemical Systems and Hydrogen Research in Texas and funded by NASA and DARPA. Returning to Chennai in 1993 to his family-owned company (Sigma-Pi Power Sources) as the managing director, he has focused on specialty batteries for a variety of devices used for submarine detection required by the Indian Navy. The company also supplies equipment to NATO partners in the coast guard and aviation industry. At Protonas Dr. Parthasarathy is assisting the team with guidance on technology development and quality control for ensuring that products meet the highest international standards.
Shaik Mohammed Shoiab
Fuel Cell R&D Lead

Shoiab has a deep background in batteries and fuel cells, with further expertise in CAD design, parts, and system development.  As a Bachelor Of Technologies in Aeronautical Engineering from Jawaharial Nehru Technology University in 2010, he brings a unique perspective to the team for aerial applications of fuel cell systems.  Shoiab is working on all aspects of the fuel cell stack, engine, and engine integration into various use cases.

Dineshkumar Ponnaiyan
Fuel Cell Stack R&D Lead

Dineshkumar is a recent graduate from PSGCT, Coimbatore, having focused on fuel cell fabrication, testing, and analysis as part of his Doctoral work.  With his strong understanding of fuel cell theory and operation, he is leading the efforts of optimizing the design and performance of Protonas fuel cell stacks for both air and liquid-cooled applications.
